On the influence of signal attenuation factors on packet dissemination in ad hoc wireless networks

چکیده
Simulations show that signal attenuation factors like fading and shadowing improve the efficiency and speed of route discovery processes in ad hoc wireless networks that rely on the use of slotted ALOHA channel. On the other hand, the capture probability has been shown to be independent of the shadowing. While the detailed modeling of the route discovery packet dissemination in a network is rather complicated, it is possible to provide the “physical” reason for the positive influence of random signal attenuation factors. It turns out that, in a presence of n simultaneous transmitters, the probability of a successful packet reception from a given node conditioned on a reception from the same node in the previous time slot has a finite limit for n → ∞ (as opposed to the unconditional reception probability which scales as 1/n) and is lower for stronger shadowing environments. The latter property makes reception of different packets in successive slots more likely and improves route discovery performance.

Broadcast Routing in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: A Particle Swarm optimization Approach
While routing in multi-hop packet radio networks (static Ad-hoc wireless networks), it is crucial to minimize power consumption since nodes are powered by batteries of limited capacity and it is expensive to recharge the device. This paper studies the problem of broadcast routing in radio networks. Given a network with an identified source node, any broadcast routing is considered as a directed...

By extending wireless networks and because of their different nature, some attacks appear in these networks which did not exist in wired networks. Security is a serious challenge for actual implementation in wireless networks. Due to lack of the fixed infrastructure and also because of security holes in routing protocols in mobile ad hoc networks, these networks are not protected against attack...
متن کاملThe Feedback Based Mechanism for Video Streaming Over Multipath Ad Hoc Networks
Ad hoc networks are multi-hop wireless networks without a pre-installed infrastructure. Such networks are widely used in military applications and in emergency situations as they permit the establishment of a communication network at very short notice with a very low cost. Video is very sensitive for packet loss and wireless ad-hoc networks are error prone due to node mobility and weak links. H...
متن کاملA Survey of Solutions to Protect Against All Types of Attacks in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
In recent years mobile networks have expanded dramatically, compared with other wireless networks. Routing protocols in these networks are designed with the assumption that there is no attacker node, so routing protocols are vulnerable to various attacks in these networks. In this paper, we review the network layer attacks and then we simulate the impact of black hole attack on ad hoc on demand...
متن کاملLEBRP - A Lightweight and Energy Balancing Routing Protocol for Energy-Constrained Wireless Ad Hoc Networks
A wireless ad hoc network typically refers to any set of wireless networks where all devices have equal status on a network and are free to associate with any other wireless ad hoc network devices in their range. As the nature of these networks, they commonly do not have external power supplies, and each node has a limited internal power source. In this paper, we put forward a new routing proto...
